뇌졸중 판별하기:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.
바베큐를 먹으며 놀던 중 친구 하나가 걸려 넘어 졌읍니다 . (응급 구조원을 부르자고 하니) 그녀는 괜찮다며 신발이 새것이라서 그저 벽돌에 걸려 넘어졌으니 다들 걱정 말라고 다짐 했습니다.
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food.
While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.
그녀가 어질러 놓은 것을 정돈해 준 후 새 접시를 갖다 주었습니다. 좀 놀란 듯이 보였으나 그녀는 남은 저녁시간을 그런대로 즐겼습니다.
Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.
후에 잉그리드의 남편이 전화로 알려 오기를 그의 부인을 병원에 데리고 가야 했다고 알려 왔습니다 (그런데 저녁 6시에 그녀가 他界했답니다). 그녀는 바베큐를 먹던 중 뇌졸중이 발생했던 것입니다. 뇌졸중의 증세들을 알았더라면, 잉그리드는 오늘 살아 있을지도 모릅니다. 죽지 않는다면 그대신에 대개는 무기력하고 가망없는 (반신불구)상태가 되고 맙니다.

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.
Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke:
뇌졸중의 증세를 판별하기가 어려울 때가 있습니다. 불행히도 뇌졸중에 대한 무지가 더 많은 재앙을 불러 들입니다. 옆에 있는 사람들이 증세를 분간하지 못 할때 뇌졸중 환자들은 두뇌에 심한 손상을 받기 쉽습니다.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
의사들의 말에 의하면 다음 세가지를 물어 봄으로써 주위사람들이 뇌졸중을 알아낼 수 있답니다.
S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
웃, 웃어 보라고 하십시요.
T *Ask the person to TALK and
SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
말, 말해보라고 하십시요.
쉬운 말을 (조리있게) 해 보라고 하십시요.
(i.e. It is sunny out today)
(예로: 오늘 날씨가 좋네)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
들, 두팔을 들어 보라고 하십시요.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911*(* replace these with your local emergency numbers) immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
위의 것 중 하나라도 잘못하면 긴급 전화 번호, 911 (지방마다 번호가 다르니 그 번호를 여기에 넣어 주세요)를 걸은 후 증세를 말해 주십시오.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this:
Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
주석: 또 하나의 뇌졸중 증세를 판별하는 법은 혀를 쑥 내밀어 보라고 하는 것입니다. 혀가 구불어지거나, 혀가 이쪽이나 저쪽으로 밀릴 때는 뇌졸중이 있다는 말입니다.
A cardiologist says
'if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.'.
심장병 전문의가 말하기를 '이 이메일 받는 사람마다 이 이메일을 다른 10명에게 보낸다면 최소한 생명 하나를 틀림없이 구할 것임을 확실히 장담할 수 있다"고 합니다.

뇌졸중 ( 머리 뇌/腦 갑자기 졸/卒 바람 맞을 중/中 ) 은......
일명 중풍 또는 뇌중풍 이라고도 부르며,
(1) 뇌가 갑작스런 혈액순환 장애를 받아 의식을 잃고 몸을 가눌 수 없게 되는 증세
(2) 뇌에 일어나는 갑작스러운 중풍(中風) 증세를 통털어 일컫는 말 이지요.
