실은 나도 신년화두로....

(1) 인간관계를 연결하는 아교풀은 윤리!==>그러므로 윤리적으로 한번 살아보자

(2) 정약책배 ( 正約責配 )를 motto로!===>정직하게,약속지키고,책임 다하고,남을 배려하면서 한번 살아보자

 이 두가지를 부르짖고 실천도 해 보자고 , 폼잡고 세를 규합하고 있었는데...

Dear Hweenam,

Your new year’s resolution to live by moral laws is commendable, for should all men like you live by moral laws out there, the world would be a far better place. 

Problem with the mortals, however, has been in that they love to live by their own rules, singing they did it all “My Ways”.  And those who want to live by the moral laws that are out there, they could not keep even their own new year’s resolution no more than a few months, what’s more, living by the higher moral laws, not to mention God’s law…..

There was a time in my life, when I also wanted to live by the simple 12 standards which BoyScout suggests us Boy Scouts to live by, which I found difficult to achieve even then.  Bible depicts how Israelites failed to live up to simple 10 commandments eventually suffering the consequences which God pronounced in the Bible. God saw from Heaven all throughout human history, according to the following verse, if there is any who live by the moral law.  He concluded:

“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat [is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps [is] under their lips:

 Whose mouth [is] full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet [are] swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery [are] in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known:” Romans 3:12-17.

And yet, mortals have this attitude that they could make their life better by their own sheer will power and strength.  To certain degrees, they could being aided by the prince of the world, as many religious leaders have demonstrated… but their achievements are regarded by Holy God as “filthy rags” –“women’s menstrual cloths”, for their good works  are all sins stained.

Fully understanding the situation mortals in, God made a provision for mortals to escape from such dire situation. He provided a substitute sin bearer, Jesus Christ who fulfilled keeping of the law for those whom He came to save.  You must have heard during Christmas season why He came to die…. To die for them who could not keep the laws fully so that they may be accepted by God.

As I shared by previous comment, all the religions of the world with Satan (the prince of this world) behind them will try to let you believe that you can become what you want by your own audacity simply trying hard.  Believe me, Hweenam, I had tried my best to live a moral life on my own, eventually ending up in my frustration. 

Since I abandoned my futile efforts to live morally, which are very self centered, to ask God to help me to live life acceptable to Him, my life has been easier and better, for God lives in me, helping me to keep the law not to earn merit but to glorify Him.  I have written a few times before that it is actually an utter impossibility for mortals to keep the law enough to be acceptable to God.  But with God all things are possible as the Scriptures let us know.

“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men [it is] impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27

Jesus let us know that for even rich men, whom Israelites believed to be in the favor with God, to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven is like a Carmel going through an eye of a needle. Which is an utter impossibility.  But with God’s help many rich people became saved, Lydia, a purple cloth merchant for an example (Acts 16:11-15).

Now, you seemed to be quite impressed by the moral laws American Indians had. And Anthony sounded like that he believes that those are not in the Bible.  Once you read the Bible, you would know that all the moral law that can be found in the world could be found in the Bible, for it is the Almighty God who gave the law and even put those laws in the hearts of mankind.

“For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and [their] thoughts the mean  while accusing or else excusing one another;)” Romans 2:14-15.

If you want to live by the law, you shall perish by it, for none could keep the law and be saved or live eternally.  The Bible teaches that the moral law is to drive men to the cross, letting them to realize that they could not keep the law and be saved. The followers of Christ therefore flee to the refuge city of Jesus Christ to live under the Grace and Mercy of God, trusting Jesus as their substitute sin bearer, resting in God for all fulfillments.

If you look into your own self, there is nothing good actually.  However if you look into the provision God made for us, there are plenty to rejoice about and to admire about.  It is a real wisdom to fear God and come to Him for help, while it is a sheer pride (the disease infected by the prince of the world) to assume that you could make a decent life apart from God’s help when God testified otherwise in the Bible.

May God shine His grace upon you as you meditate what’s being shared above….
